Our statement

We are excited to offer a series of AMAs with past and current biology students from the top Canadian universities, giving you a different perspective on what your future might look like. These AMAs will focus more on program / university life/ career, less about admission process.

Format

The AMAs will start with some prepared questions (drop down your questions in the Google Form), followed by some live Q&A.

Flora Zhiqi Wang

Currently a Ph.D. student at UC Berkeley Plant & Microbial Biology. Recent graduate from the University of Toronto, double Specialist in Biochemistry and Cell & Systems Biology with a focus in Plant Genomics and Biotechnology. Throughout her time at University of Toronto, she was the recipient of numerous scholarships for her outstanding academic performances, including being on the dean's list for 4 consecutive years. She was also heavily involved in the school community, being the co-president of the Biochemistry Undergraduate Student Society.

Cynthia Feng

Currently working at Metrix as a medical editor and reviewer. She holds an Honors Bachelor's degree in Immunology, as well as a Master's in Biochemistry, from McGill University. Her Master's thesis was on characterizing the protein function, gene expression, and viral replication of chicken anemia virus. She has worked in multiple research positions at McGill University. As part of the SciComm Collective, she organizes workshops and training on science communication strategies. She was also a program facilitator at Shad last summer.

Jake Pringle

Currently a 3rd student of Bioengineering at McGill University. He is also the Bioengineering Undergraduate Student Society (BUSS) VP of Academic at McGill. He has also been an intern multiple times at WELL Health Technology, Canada’s largest owner and operator of outpatient health clinics.
